With the UK’s official withdrawal from the European Union, relations between British and EU-based traders took new commercial, political and even social directions. Currently, countries on both sides are struggling to comply with numerous new rules and requirements that have added more complexity to the flow of goods in the region.

Although economic agreements facilitate the free movement of goods between the UK and EU members, a series of compliance requirements are still attached to the import and export of goods. Check below how our compliance solution will facilitate British and EU traders to remain compliant and improve their cross-border activities.

HS Classification

Following the UK Trade Tariff, our Classification engine is based on the internationally valid Harmonized System (HS), in which the first six digits of the 10-digit UK tariff headings correspond to the HS. By using natural language to accurately classify goods, our engine can provide detailed information about

  • Notes on Free Trade Agreements
  • Duties and Taxes
  • Import and export licenses
  • Special provisions

Prohibited and Restricted Goods in the UK

This feature provides prime Restricted and Prohibited screening by checking constantly updated P&R lists issued by British authorities. Those lists can be screened by either HS Codes or product descriptions. The API also recommends appropriate documentation in case of import restrictions.

Import One-Stop-Shop (IOSS)

Suppliers that are not established and do not have a fixed establishment in the EU and are not established in a third country with which the EU has concluded a VAT mutual assistance agreement, must appoint an EU-based IOSS intermediary. MyDutyCollect can register and submit monthly VAT returns for British businesses selling to the EU.
